On the tropical Coast of Ecuador in the provinces of
Esmeraldas, Manabi and Guayas you find a rough coast with quiet beaches,
small fishing villages and
a number of very nice
beach resorts like Al Andaluz or the Mandala.
Puerto Lopez, a fishermen’s home, offers good diving
options and
is also gateway to Isla
de la Plata (Silver Island or the so called Little Galapagos)
During June to September
you will find here great opportunities for whale watching .
The Machalilla
National Park is a coastal area where tropical forest meets dry forest.
There you can see a really variety of vegetation. Also you find here
archeological sites of ancient peoples. For example the Manteño society lived here 2000 years ago and had a very
special way to bury their dead people…
Montanita is a backpackers hideaway to relax from
travelling along the Panamericana and offers great surfing.
Manta is famous for it’s beaches and in Montecristi
you find a big variety of handicrafts and the famous Panama Hat, that
has its origin here and not in Panama!
Guayaquil is the biggest Ecuadorian city, international
port and
gate way to the Galapagos
Islands.
Visit the Malecon 2000
a great new recreation area with shopping malls, bars and restaurants along
the peer of the river Guayas.
